I can’t even begin to describe how amazing Hotel Las Islas is. We were picked up from Getsemani after checking out from our hotel with a private car ride to the resort in which we coordinated before our trip. Our driver was extremely punctual and even gave us a detailed tour of the city/villages along the way (it was about 1 hour 1/2 drive but flew by…we were distracted by so much sight seeing!!). We had arrived earlier than standard check in, but we had also scheduled a massage and use of the spa facilities while we were waiting for our room. Hands down one of the best massages of my life and the sauna, Turkish Bath and Jacuzzi had my boyfriend and I so incredibly relaxed!! Once our room was ready we took a short golf cart trip to our bungalow. We were so breath taken by not only the room but the views itself. As advertised (depending on the room booked), you get your own private infinity pool overlooking the ocean as well as a patio with lounging chairs. We didn’t want to leave our room at first!! They offer a variety of excursions to do, so we decided to do the cooking class (where we made amazing Arepas from scratch!!) and a snorkeling tour in the morning. Our driver, Edgar, took us to the Rosario islands (~10 min boat ride) and spent an hour swimming in the crystal clear waters! All the food and drinks were beyond exceptional, and they have a variety of options for whatever preference you may have. Our favorite meal was dinner, where Manuel was our server both nights and provided beyond an exceptional experience! They also have a beautiful 360 rooftop bar which we visited after dinner for a few cocktails, and the bartender (I wish I remembered his name!!) was so accommodating and so much fun to talk to. I could keep writing about how amazing this place is, but if you have read this review this far and contemplating staying at Hotel Las Islas, my advice is to go ahead and book it!! You will not be disappointed. We will definitely be visiting again!!

Las Islas standouts amongst hotel options at the tip of Baru. Most are loud beach clubs, but Las Islas is a relaxing resort, nestled in a tree-lined mangrove. Villas are fairly spread out (see downsides). You can easily walk the grounds using wooden pathways, bikes, or order carts which are prompt (in April, but might be different in high season). The private beach is lovely and calm, but you should splurge on a saltwater pool in your villa if you can. Balinese-style villas are comfortable and well-insulated with good AC (a must); many are treehouses but that means lots of stairs. There are 3 locations for food. Breakfast by the bay is a copious and delicious buffet with continental and local options (mind the birds -grackles- and stay away from the brioche they spend their time in!). Lunch can be had on the beach, with selection of ceviches or burgers. The main restaurant is an elegant open-air hall (think White Lotus) and also has delicious dishes for dinner but can be on the pricey side; keep in mind there are no other food options given the location of the resort. There are several activities worth taking. We booked a private tour of Islas de Rosario, which included snorkeling on a reef with many colorful fish species, and the highlight of our stay: a drop-off on a desert island with your own spectacular beach (see photos). The mangrove tour was also lovely, especially if you enjoy bird watching; if you stop by the local village, make sure to check out the local art museum (maybe not for kids...). The bioluminescent plankton tour was a bit lackluster but we had lots of moonlight which forced us under the boat to really enjoy it; worth it for the thrill of a night swim in the mangrove. The entire staff is extremely professional and charming, from the drivers, the guides to the servers. Only one boat from Cartagena/day (car service possible) but make sure to take it on the way back. One HUGE surprise: no mosquitoes! (maybe different in rainy season).

We stayed in one of the treehouses. What a unique experience! Above the jungle canopy, watching iguanas and bird right next to us. The sunset over the sea from the deck was gorgeous. We also loved riding bikes around the property. The room had internet and we were able to get work done. It also had air conditioning. At the resort, the food was yummy, staff polite, and spa relaxing. It was a delight

Very nice bungalows on the smaller island. Newly build or well maintained. Everything was comfortable. Small things to improve in the room: more LED lights at night. It is difficult to blind the windows because of the wooden construction. But these points are not disturbing. Nice little pool with sea-water, friendly staff, good breakfast, relaxing atmosphere, ....

Fantastic beach resort. Staff could not have been friendlier or more helpful. Breakfast was fantastic and dinners were nice. The bar has great vistas and on the roof there is a telescope so I got to see Saturn and its rings. Rooms have those Japanese automatic toilets which I had never experienced before.
